Hon’ble Vice President of India Shri Venkaiah Naidu chaired LPU's 9th convocation ceremony on October 22, 2018. While addressing the gathering, he encouraged students to promote innovation and use their knowledge and skills for the betterment of society.
Hon’ble Vice President of India Shri Muppavarapu Venkaiah Naidu was the Chief Quest at the 9th convocation ceremony of Lovely Professional University on 22nd October 2018. The 9th convocation ceremony of LPU took place at Baldev Raj Mittal Unipolis auditorium where thousands of students were awarded degrees and diplomas.
Naidu delivered the convocation address and awarded 98 gold medals to meritorious students and 54 Ph.D. degrees.
Apart from Indian students, international students from more than 70 countries were also awarded degrees. While addressing the audience, he congratulated all the students and asked all of them to promote innovation. According to him, LPU has always equipped its students with the right skill sets and education.

Talking about the importance of education, Naidu said education is one of the major factors in the socio-economic transformation of the country. Higher education institutions should promoter critical and innovative thinking. Institutes should primarily focus on imparting industry-based skills to students, which will increase their employability, he added.
He further appreciated the strengths of LPU and said the institute has always focused on the overall development of its students. He also laid stress on the emancipation of women and the importance of women empowerment and education. In his address, he mentioned that the country cannot develop without empowering women and promoting equal opportunities for girls in the country.

Many eminent personalities attended the convocation ceremony such as Shri Sunder Sham Arora, Cabinet Minister for Industries & Commerce, Mr Ashok Mittal, LPU Chancellor among others.
