Despite rigorous efforts by Chandan Roy’s mother who has even sold her ornaments in order to pay for his education, the 17-year-old is uncertain about his future and finds his dream of studying aerospace engineering at IIT-Bombay very far from reality. Chandan belongs to an impoverished family in remote village at Ghatal, West Midnapore. He appeared for IIT- JEE and secured 314th rank. Recently, he approached chief minister Mamata Banerjee and Bengal governor Keshari Nath Tripathi to help him get admission by providing him with monetary help.

Raj Bhavan took no time to take matters in their hands and soon Roy was asked to visit on October 17. He has also been fixed a date with the CM on October 22. Roy has been promised that his new session will be commencing from October 24.
