Vision Document of KKHSOU Released

The vision document 2030 of Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University was released jointly on March 30, 2016, by the Vice Chancellor of Gauhati University Dr. Mridul Hazarika, and distinguished guest Prof. Taburam Taid at a function at Hotel Rajdhani Regency in the city of Guwahati. The welcome address was offered by Shri Rajat Baran Mahanta,Registrar.

Dr. Hazarika, in his speech, highlighted the need of focus on imparting quality education in the universities and also appreciated the efforts of the Open University in outlining its roadmap. In addition, Dr. Hazarika highlighted the present challenges in the education sector and said that importance should be given to both expansions of education as well as maintaining the quality of education.

On the occasion, Dr Hitesh Deka, Vice Chancellor of Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University said that the university believes in the process of life-long learning and so, it is committed to empowering human resources for carrying forward its mission of social responsibility. “The university has a two-fold desire to enlarge its vision-first at the regional level to emerge as a people’s university and at a wider level to emerge as a transnational university,” Dr Deka said. Expressing the aspirations of the university to translate the Vision Document into a positive reality, he focused on the implementation of a Strategic and Action Plan (SAP) that would encompass both the educational sphere of the North-East India, as well as, the South East-Asian region within the next decade.

Meanwhile, concern was expressed by Educationist Taburam Taid, at the challenges that are being encountered by the education sector in the State. He said that there is a great need to improve the quality of education in the state. Maintaining the local focus on the philosophy of the Look East Policy, Taid, in his speech, provided an insight on the significance of a strategically constructed Vision Document with a global perspective.
