The French Embassy in India has got into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for establishing the French Cultural and Language Centre at the VIT Vellore campus. It is the one of its kind institute in South India. The aim of this MoU is to facilitate the Indi-French cultural exchanges and academic programmes under the ‘Espace France Project’.
The VP Sankar Viswanathan signed the MoU on VIT’s behalf with the French embassy officials who are in charge of the Espace France Project at the French Institute in India. K. Sathiyanarayanan, VIT Registrar; G. Velmurugan, Dean, School of Social Sciences and Languages; Dominque and Calaivanane, faculty members of the French language in VIT; and R. Seenivasan, Brijesh Nair and M.R. Ghalib, Assistant Directors, international office, attended the event.

VIT Vellore is a private deemed university which has been ranked as one of the best engineering institutions in India. The university has 43 undergraduate, 4 integrated programmes, 3 research programmes and 43 undergraduate programmes on offer. Apart from this, it also offers full-time PhD in fields such as engineering and management, PhD in Science and languages, and integrated PhD programmes in engineering.
VIT has state-of-the-art infrastructure including a central library which is built over six floors plus ground over an area of 7770 square metres. The placement centre at VIT plays an important role in assisting students with the placement activities of the campus.
