Which Branch at NIT Warangal Can You Get With 97 Percentile in JEE Main 2026JEE Main 2026 counselling season will commence soon, as the JEE Main 2026 Exam is underway. As students are appearing for JEE Main, a key question dominating their minds is: What are the chances of getting a branch at NIT Warangal with 97 Percentile in JEE Main 2026? Students have started analysing their chances by looking at previous year trends for different branches under different categories. Analysis of JoSAA cutoff trends from the previous year reflects that a 97-percentile score is not sufficient under the General category for top branches like CSE or ECE, but it may open doors to mid-tier and some core engineering branches.
As per score dynamics, a 97th percentile in JEE Main means an All-India Rank (AIR) between 30,000 and 40,000, which is further dependent on the level of difficulty of the examination and the total number of students appearing for JEE Main 2026. Students must compare the rank band with last year's closing ranks to get a clearer picture of their chances of getting a branch with a 97th percentile score.

Branch at NIT Warangal Can You Get With 97 Percentile
As per JoSAA 2025 data, the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) branch at NIT Warangal closed around 3,400 ranks, while the closing rank for AI & Data Science was 4,200. Similarly, for the general category students, ECE closed around 6,100, and Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) around 10,800. Most of the top or competitive branches require a 99+ percentile for NIT Warangal, and 97 percentile is generally insufficient for them. However, the scenario is different for lesser-demanding or core engineering streams.
For example, the closing ranks for Mechanical Engineering were 16,700, while Chemical Engineering closed around 22,000 as per final counselling. The closing ranks for lower-demand branches remain higher, such as Civil Engineering (around 31,000), Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (around 35,000), and Biotechnology (over 41,000).
Based on this trend, students scoring around 97 percentiles in JEE Main 2026 may realistically target:
- Civil Engineering
- Chemical Engineering
- Metallurgical and Materials Engineering
- Biotechnology
- In some cases, Mechanical Engineering ranks improve in later rounds.
The Home State quota cannot be ruled out, which reserves about 50% of seats for Telangana students and can significantly relax closing ranks compared to the Other State quota.
To conclude, a 97th percentile score may not secure NIT Warangal’s top tech branches like CSE or ECE, but it still offers solid chances in core engineering streams.
