BMSIT&M Launches UG Programme in Artificial Intelligence

BMS Institute of Technology and Management (BMSIT&M) introduced Artificial Intelligence as an undergraduate course from this year. Already 60 candidates applied for the course and the classes began from August 3, 2019, Saturday.

Karisiddappa, VC of VTU inaugurated the first class on Saturday. He said that it is the age of Artificial Intelligence and it could help to solve many current problems. BMSIT&M became the first college to launch an undergraduate program for Artificial Intelligence under AICTE and VTU.

AICTE chairman, Dr. Anil Sahasrabudhe said that artificial intelligence is taking the centre stage in the industries and academics. He also added that it is high time for India to take the road which the whole world has taken and promote artificial intelligence in India.

AI or Artificial Intelligence is the area of computer science that focuses on incorporating intelligence in machines enabling them to think, learn and behave like human beings. Many national institutions like IITs, NITs, etc have introduced various courses on AI. Even this year the trend of AI has increased among the students. Many students including the JEE toppers are choosing AI over Computer Science these days.

Chairman and Managing Director of Bharat Electronics LTD, M.V.Gowtama congratulated the Principal and Management of BMSIT&M for anticipating the importance of AI and introducing it in their curriculum as a UG program.

Artificial Intelligence is very popular these days and the career scopes are vast. Engineers these days are not getting proper placement however, students pursuing AI other than the conventional courses will have a good placement scope. There is a need in the industry for students studying AI.
