Financial Grant Approved for New Projects at IITs & IISc
- The project will lead to the development and growth of telecom technology and will also enhance the national capability.
- It has a budget of over 224 crores and a time frame of 3 years to be fully functional.
The government has approved of the financial grant forIndian Institutes of Technology(IIT) &Indian Institute of Science(IISc)for setting up 5G test beds. As per the reports, parliament has confirmed about the same for the setting up of indigenous5Gtest bedprojects.The project will provide students ofIITand other prestigious institutes with an opportunity to conduct research activities in the field of Intellectual Property and Telecom Technology. The project will not only provide the students with national opportunities but with the exposure of international market as well as telecom technology is one of the fastest growing industries in India.

The project entails the establishment of an open5G Test Bed for Indian companieswhich will lead to development intelecom technologyand will also enhance the national capability. The 5G Test Bed will also lead to the manufacturing of Intellectual Property which will help to improve the global standards. Manoj Sinha, Telecom Minister, stated that this will lead to the creation of Intellectual Property (IP) that will help us compete at the global level.

The project has a budget of around 224 crores and a duration of three years for the project to be fully functional. The initiative will have a collaboration with 8 prestigious institutes of the country such asIIT Delhi, Centre of Excellence in Wireless Technology ( EWiT), IISc Bangalore,IIT Madras,IIT Hyderabad, and Society for Applied Microwave Electronic Engineering and Research (SAMEER).
