IIT Delhi: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi is going to establish a new department for B.Tech in Energy Engineering. As per the statement released by IIT Delhi, the new department is going to be focused on the “scope and depth” of topics for Energy Engineering by the Centre for Energy Studies. The board of the Institute has given approval on converting the Centre for Energy Studies into B.Tech in Energy Engineering department. The new department will primarily focus on the teaching and research activities in the field of energy while also contributing to the initiatives towards energy transition at the global level.

The new department at IIT Delhi will provide various courses in the field of Energy Engineering. These courses will strive to prepare the students for required manpower while attracting the best faculty, staff & students. Meanwhile, IIT Delhi also aims to effectively collaborate with faculty colleagues across IIT Delhi and other institutes.

Along with the existing M.Tech course offered by the Centre for Energy Studies, the new department will provide an undergraduate program on B.Tech in Energy Engineering from the academic year 2021-22. The new course will have a total of 40 seat intake and the students will be provided admission to the course on the basis of JEE Advanced score. The course curriculum will lay a foundation for the field of Energy in order to prepare new leaders who will contribute to the energy transition initiatives.
