Indian Institute of Technology-Madras had been declared in charge of organizing the JEE Advanced 2017. JEE Advanced is the exam for aspiring engineers that allows them a passage into India’s leading engineering colleges.

JEE 2016 was organized by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati.

The development was confirmed by an official from IIT Guwahati. He also stated that all the details were been handed over to IIT Madras on August 20, 2016, including the website.

It is the organizing institute’s responsibility to maintain the official exam website, analyze all the logistics for conducting the exam, formulating the question paper, providing the answer keys, announcing results and other exam related formalities that the organizing institute is responsible for.

In 2016, around 13 lakh students gave the JEE Mains exam out of which nearly 1.56 lakh aspirants applied for JEE Advanced. Candidates have to appear for JEE Mains in order to be eligible for JEE Advanced. Clearing both the exams is necessary to secure a seat in one of the IITs.

The pattern will be different for foreign nationals. A proposal has been sent to the HRD ministry from the Joint Admission Board, asking to scrap the rule that makes JEE Mains compulsory foreign nationals. The proposal asked them to and keep only JEE Advanced for these students.
