National Law University to be Set Up in Uttarakhand

The Centre has decided to set up a National Law University in Uttarakhand. The PM has given his approval for the same, and an official statement has been released.

The Union Government has given its approval for setting up NLU (National Law University) in Uttarakhand. The establishment of NLU in Uttrakhand is good news for aspirants who are looking for a bright career in the field of law.

CM Trivendra Singh Rawat thanked PM Narendra Modi for giving the approval to open the university in the state. India is home to 21 national law universities, and the admissions to these universities are through a Common Law Admission Test (CLAT).

CLAT is one of most reputed of all the law entrance examinations in India after class XII. More than 45,000 students write the exam every year to bag a seat in one of the participating National Law University including NLSIU Bangalore, which is also known as the Harvard of the East.

CLAT is held every year to shortlist students for 22 National Law universities in India apart from the National Law University, Delhi which has its own entrance test (AILET) to select students. CLAT scores are also accepted by other law institutes such as UPES- Dehradun, and Institute of Law, Nirma University-Ahmedabad, NMIMS Mumbai.

CLAT 2019 will take place on 12th May from 3 pm-5 pm. It will be conducted in the online mode wherein the paper will have 200 questions from five varied subjects such as Elementary Mathematics (Numerical Ability), General English, Legal Aptitude and Logical Reasoning, General Knowledge and Current Affairs.
