Overall I had a bittersweet experience at UPES Dehradun. I got admission in MBA based on UPESMET and got 20% waiver on tution fee as i had more than 80% in graudation. I passed out in 2021 and in two years I learnt a lot bout the university. Firstly, the faculty needs to be improved. Secondly, the hostels were not at all maintained and there was not decorum in hostels. The only thing i liked about UPES was it tieups with companies for placements.

As per the rankings, the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) has achieved an NIRF rank of 45 in the Research Institutions category along with an NIRF rank of 43 in the Engineering category. The institute has also achieved NIRF scores of 46.46 and 56.99 in each category respectively. In terms of category-wise rankings, the UPES NIRF ranking management 2025 is at the 36th position with a score of 58.33. UPES Dehradun Scholarships
All students who have applied for admission for UPES courses and have taken the UPES entrance examination shall be eligible for consideration for this scholarship. However, this Scholarship shall be awarded only to those students who have scholarship complied with the below-defined Scholarship Criteria for the first semester and subsequent renewal, if applicable. There are several types of UPES Dehradun scholarships that a student at UPES can get:
1. Academic Scholarships
- The scholarship will be awarded to up to 10% of the Top performers on UPES Entrance Exam. UPES reserves the right to conduct multiple rounds of entrance examination and the merit list of each round will be prepared separately. However, UPES's sole discretion, is to decide consideration of next in line of the top 10 for said Scholarship, in case the top performer does not accept the scholarship for any reason.
- The total number of scholarships available is up to 1900 (out of this 50% will be reserved for girls i.e., 950 scholarships and the the balance is for general category including boys and girls both).
- The scholarship will be awarded in the range of 20% to 100% on tuition fees for 1st semester only. Renewal of scholarships for the rest of the semesters is at the sole discretion of UPES.
2. 33% fee concession for Bonafide Uttarakhand students*
In case you are a Uttarakhand Bonafide resident, you are eligible for a 33% concession on tuition fee subject to fulfillment of the following conditions and submission of supporting documents:
- ‘Sthai Niwas Praman Patra’ certificate, along with the admission form.
- Income certificate proving that your gross family income is not more than Rs.12 lakh per annum, along with a copy of the last income tax return filed
- With the objective of access to quality education to all UPES is to provide scholarships to student who comes from the economically weaker section but with high aspiration, commitment, and caliber.
- the Total number of 50 seats only for the regular program be on a merit basis.
- Upper age limit for UG and PG programs- 20 and 25 years respectively (On the date of Registration).
3. Sports Scholarships
To develop a sports culture within the University, UPES introduces a new scheme of providing scholarships for talented sports people.
