First Year Junior Colleges (FYJC) conducted their special round of admission last week and over 1.17 lakh seats are still available for admissions. As per the latest seat matrix, over 10,000 minority quota seats and about 5,600 management quota seats have also been added to the FYJC pool for admissions.
The FYJC administration was following the order by the Nagpur bench of Bombay High Court according to which minority quota seats were left out of the online admission process. However, these seats have been added to the online admission process now and the number of seats available for the candidates is 1,17,833. The education department has organised four rounds of admission and more than 60,000 candidates have not secured admissions even after scoring well in class 10th board examination.

Both students and their parents are hopeful of securing a seat in the special rounds as there is an ample number of seats available in colleges such as KC College where admissions closed. However, after the 2nd round, the college still has 75 seats available in the Arts stream and Mithibai College still has 250 seats available in the Science stream.
