Lavanya Balakrishnan is definitely a source of inspiration for children with special needs. She cleared the CBSE Class 12 exams with 97.8%, and she is the all-India topper in Children with Special Needs category. Lavanya scored 97.8% in the Humanities stream of Class 12th. One of the impressive things about the success of Lavanya is that she neither attended extra coaching nor special tuition classes.
Lavanya is partially deaf and she needs hearing aids to carry out her day to day activities. Her disability never turned out to be an obstacle for studies, and she proved that children with special needs can achieve greater heights with confidence and determination.
Lavanya said that her parents have always been supportive. At the same time, teachers at the school motivated, supported and encouraged her in every aspect pertaining to academics. Lavanya completed her 12th standard from Heritage Experiential Learning School.
Explaining about her success, Lavanya indicated that she just did hard work with confidence. Being a topper was not her target, and she just wanted to clear the 12th exams of CBSE with a good percentage. She used to study at least six hours in a day, and in the last month before the exams, she devoted at least 10-12 hours for studies. Mock tests were not practised by her, and she just focused on the effective revision of syllabus.
Lavanya says that one must balance the academics and personal life instead of merely focusing only on academics.

At present, Lavanya is planning for higher studies in the field of design/ graphics/ animation. She is aiming to secure an admission in either NID or NIFT.
