CBSE to Seek IITs Help for Regulating Paper Leaks

CBSE to Seek IITs Help for Regulating Paper Leaks

A committee that was consisted to review/ study the CBSE’s process of conducting board exams for Class 10 and Class 12, is seeking suggestions from Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) with a motive to make exam system safe and prevent exam paper leaks in future. The committee convened its second meeting last week, and it was decided to seek technological solutions from IITs to prevent paper leaks.

Former Secretary of MHRD, Mr. Oberoi is the head of the panel that comprises of seven other members. The panel sought suggestions from professionals and experts in the field of Information Technology (IT). According to sources, the committee is expected to recommend incorporating new changes in the exam system every year. Already, a few IITs have suggested implementing new changes every year so that it will become difficult to crack the exam system.

IITs further recommended the inculcation of the encryption system for question papers so that the entire process of the examination will be foolproof. The recommendations/ suggestions made by the premier institutes will be discussed at the next meeting.

The committee is also finding possibilities to implement a new system so that it would be easier to track the source of the leak within a limited time.

CBSE has favoured its existing system of conducting online competitive exams where there have been no instances of the paper leak so far.

The panel that was constituted by MHRD will take all the suggestions and recommendations into consideration. Extensive discussions will take place on all the recommendations. The committee is expected to submit its report by the end of this month.
