Union HRD Ministry, Mr. Prakash Javadekar directed all the states to submit affidavits on the accuracy of translated NEET-UG question papers from 2019. Javadekar took a decision in this regard while responding to an issue raised by one of the members of AIADMK.
Recently, the CBSE was criticised for 49 translation errors in NEET-UG Tamil question paper. Therefore, the central government wants to implement a mechanism to check the accuracy of translated NEET-UG question papers in different languages.
When asked about awarding grace marks to NEET-UG 2018 Tamil examinees, Mr. Prakash Javadekar replied that the matter was in the court, and he does not want to speak much about the issue.

Javadekar further said that Tamil Nadu state government could appoint their own translators from 2019 to translate NEET-UG question paper from English to Tamil. However, the Central Government will take an affidavit from the State Government to find out whether the translation done by the Centre’s experts was correct or not.
The issue of far-off exam centres was also discussed in Rajya Sabha during the Zero Hour. Javadekar assured that such issues would not take place next year.

NEET-UG exam in Tamil Nadu has become one of the controversial issues of all times. The translation errors in the NEET-UG Tamil question paper, far-off exam centres etc caused a lot of inconvenience to Tamil Nadu students. The state government is also not in favour of conducting NEET-based admissions for AYUSH courses.
