Compulsory NCC Training in Schools and Colleges: Manohar Parrikar
Defence Minister, Mr. Manohar Parrikar said that the government have to implement compulsory NCC training in all the schools and colleges. For this purpose, the government must provide proper infrastructure and manpower. He raised the issue during the Question Hour in Lok Sabha.
He claimed that if the NCC training is made compulsory around four crore youth will have to be trained. According to the current statistics, only 13 lakh students are being trained every year. He said that there are no proper infrastructure facilities in most of the schools and colleges. On the other hand, lack of manpower to train the students is also a barrier for compulsory NCC training.
He requested the government to provide necessary infrastructure and manpower for this purpose. The National Cadet Corps came into being by an Act of Parliament in 1948.
