Delhi University Directs Colleges to Maintain Realistic Cut-Offs

The University of Delhi has directed the affiliated colleges to fix cut-offs for admission to UG courses in a realistic way. The varsity expressed its concern over the fact that only 20% seats are being filled even after the release of three cut-off lists, particularly in less popular colleges. The varsity further clarified that it would provide an interface to view cut-offs set by colleges affiliated to Delhi University. The interface will help colleges to decide what their cut-off for various courses should be.

The officials of Delhi University observed that there were several instances in the past where less popular colleges set higher cut-offs for UG courses. As a result, the seats remained vacant for several lists. Through the interface provided by the University of Delhi, the colleges can check cut-offs and determine their own list. However, it would be only advisory in nature, clarified DU officials.

The new directive of Delhi University did not go well with the representatives of various colleges. Some of the college officials even termed the new directive of the varsity as tedious. The varsity has not given clarity on how the interface works. Usually, most DU colleges prepare final cut-offs a day before it is released.

The varsity further directed the colleges to produce details of each admission form after every list. However, the officials of various DU colleges termed the move as unnecessary. Sending a consolidated list after admissions are closed is a better idea than sending a list after each cut-off list, indicated a college official.
