FJYC Admissions 2018: Only 46% Candidates Secure Seats After Two Rounds

Even after the second round of FYJC admissions, only 46% of candidates have managed to secure seats in the Mumbai junior colleges. It is the lowest as compared to other five zones which includes Pune, Aurangabad, Amravati, Nagpur and Nashik.

First Year Junior College (FYJC) admissions are underway in Mumbai city and as of now, only 46% percent candidates have secured seats in different courses. According to reports from the state education department, lowest percentage is recorded in Mumbai city as compared to other five zones which include Nagpur, Amravati, Nashik, Aurangabad and Pune. Admissions in these five zones are being conducted under the Centralised Admission Process (CAP).

More than 2.4 lakh students have applied for FYJC admissions in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). The total number of admission is less than 50% of the eligible candidates. However, MMR has the highest number of candidates across the six regions. In zones such as Nagpur, 77% candidates have secured admissions while in Amravati 72% candidates have got admission.

According to reports, more than one lakh candidates in MMR did not report for admissions even though they were allotted seats in the first two rounds. This is because most of the students hoped for better seats in the next round.

There is a sudden shortage of seats due to which many high scorers have not secured seats yet. They are waiting for the third list to be declared which is due today i.e. 31st July 2018.

Meanwhile, minority colleges surrendered more than 6,800 in-house quotes seats for CAP admission process. Parents of an FYJC aspirant said that not many seats have been added even after the minority colleges surrendered the seats. Most of the students are hoping to get a seat in the college of their preference in the third round of admissions.
