GATE 2020 results were out, and Krishna Singh Rajput has emerged as the topper of Instrumentation Engineering (IN) by scoring 82.33. The 22-year-old Krishna faced a lot of challenges and struggles to end up as a topper of GATE examination. As this is the toughest exam in India for M.Tech admission in premier institutes and jobs in PSUs, being a topper in this exam is not an ordinary achievement.
Krishna Singh Rajput belongs to a family of farmers in Madhya Pradesh’s Vidishi district. Krishna’s father is a small farmer, and neither his mother nor father are education. They faced a lot of struggle to invest in his education as well as his twin brothers. An education loan has been borrowed for this purpose.
Krishna and his brother cracked the JEE Main exam and secured admission in NIT Trichy. Cracking GATE has been his aim since the beginning, and in the second attempt, Krishna bagged the top rank in IN paper. His primary attempt of GATE was just to understand the nature of questions and difficulty level.
Unlike most GATE toppers who aspire for a job in PSUs, Krishna wants to get a seat in BARC (Baba Atomic Research Centre). He wants to become a scientist in the automotive field. On the other hand, candidates who get selected for admission in BARC will get funding for education, as well as, he/ she will be hired as a scientist.
Explaining his success journey, Krishna Singh revealed that he used to visualize the concepts while preparing for GATE examination, and this helped him to develop an interest in the automotive field.
Explaining about his preparation strategy for GATE, Krishna revealed that he joined a coaching institute in June 2019. He used to make short notes of concepts after returning home from the coaching centre. After revising the entire syllabus, Krishna was able to make short notes of 600-700 pages. This helped him to score better in GATE. He also took various mock tests for GATE, and the last 25 days before the exam was completely devoted to practising mock tests.
