GATE cutoff is determined on the basis of several factors such as the total number of candidates appeared and cleared the entrance exam, previous years' cutoff etc.
Candidates clearing the minimum qualifying marks for GATE can apply for admission in IIT. However, the IIT GATE cutoff will be defined in the form of closing ranks. Closing rank is the rank of the last student who secured admission in the respective IIT.
CCMT, which is the official body of conduct M.Tech admission in NITs through GATE will release institute-wise cutoff in the form of closing ranks or minimum score. The closing rank is the rank of the last rank of the candidate securing admission in the respective NIT.
There is a separate GATE qualifying cutoff for all papers, and the same will be released along with the results.
