GATE 2019 Counselling Process

Once GATE 2019 is conducted successfully and the results are announced in the month of March, all the participating institutes will start their GATE counselling process for the qualified candidates.

As per the official schedule of the participating institutes, all the qualified candidates have to attend the GATE counselling for seat allotment purposes. On the basis of GATE scores, the participating institutes will begin their counselling rounds.

Note: There will be no common counselling held for the admission into various post graduate programmes.

Detailed GATE Counselling Process 2019

The GATE counselling process 2019 will be conducted through Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP). To participate in the GATE counselling process, candidates will have to register themselves with COAP. The admission into various post-graduate courses will depend on GATE score.

Stage 1: Registration

GATE registration is the first step in the counselling process. To take part in the counselling rounds, all the qualified candidates will have to first register themselves, failing which he/she will not be allowed to participate in the GATE 2019 counselling procedure. After registering, candidates will have to fill their correct details to proceed further.

Stage 2: Choice Filling and Locking

After successful registration, the next step that follows is choice filling and locking. Here, candidates will have to make the choices regarding the courses. It is advisable for the candidates, to fill the most preferred choice on the top. After filling the choices, candidates will have to lock their choices by using the choice locking option.

Note: No modifications shall be made in the choices after locking the same.

Stage 3: Seat Allotment

This is the most important stage of the GATE 2019 counselling process. Here, candidates will be allotted seats on the basis of the choices filled by the candidates, their rank, and the availability of seats at that rank.

Stage 4: Reporting

It is the final stage of the GATE 2019 counselling process. This stage involves reporting at the nodal centre and then document verification.

  • GATE 2019 counselling will depend on GATE 2019 scores of the candidates.

  • In the counselling process, candidates will have to verify their documents.

  • There will not be any common GATE counselling for the qualified candidates of the exam.

  • Candidates qualifying the GATE cut-off will be eligible for GATE 2019 counselling.

  • For counselling, candidates will have to fill the GATE 2019 registration form, along with the counselling fees.

  • GATE 2019 admit card

  • GATE 2019 scorecard

  • Date of Birth Certificate

  • Provisional seat allotment letter

  • Class 12th mark sheet

  • Photo ID proof

  • Passport-size photograph (coloured)

  • Seat acceptance fee proof

  • Mark sheet of qualifying examination (all semester).

  • Degree/Provisional Certificate

  • Printout of the Registration form & locked choices.

  • Category Certificate (if valid)
