GTU Student Selected as Stanford's ‘University Innovation Fellow’

Ashita Shah, a student of Sardar Vallabhai Patel Education Society (SVPES) has been selected as ‘University Innovation Fellow’ by Stanford Design School, California. He is a seventh-semester student of Computer Engineering at Faculty of Engineering, SVPES. The college is affiliated to Gujarat Technological University (GTU). Ashita Shah is one among the 149 students selected from 49 higher educational institutions across four countries.

Sanjay Trivedi of GTU explained that the candidates who have been selected for the fellowship programme would receive mentorship and training from Silicon Valley through leaders and Stanford educators. The fellows will also have a chance to collaborate with global community students and faculty.

The Faculty of Engineering, SVPES, Bardoli was established in the year 2010. The college is recognised by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and affiliated to Gujarat Technological University, Ahmadabad. The institute has exceptional infrastructure facilities. It offers courses in various streams in engineering. The most popular courses are Mechanical, Electrical and Computer Science Engineering.

Gujarat Technological University was established in the year 2007. The state government heads the varsity. Various engineering colleges across the state are affiliated to GTU. The varsity offers Diploma, Bachelor’s, Masters and Research programmes in engineering and pharmacy courses. The varsity has a separate council called GTU Innovation Council (GIC) which encourages student startups by providing basic facilities. GIC also organises workshops and helps students to find a right mentor. GIC established a separate wing called IP Clinic which facilitates the students to patent their innovative ideas and projects easily.
