“How can we postpone the National Exam” - Supreme Court on NEET PG 2022 Postponement

Supreme Court of India has accepted to hear the plea to postpone NEET PG 2022. The SC will first list the matter for hearing which will take place on May 13.

On May 10, 2022, the Supreme Court of India agreed to hear the plea seeking NEET PG 2022 postponement. The petition was placed before the bench of Justices Chandrachud and PS Narasimha by Senior Advocate Rakesh Khanna. As reported by Live Law, the bench asked the Senior Counsel whether they are seeking exam postponement, and the counsel responded the same. However, the bench clearly questioned, “How can we postpone the national exam? We will list it for hearing first”.

The matter will be heard by Supreme Court on May 13, and after hearing the arguments, a decision on whether to postpone the exam or not shall be taken. However, with the court’s statement “How can we postpone the national exam”, it is to be seen if a positive decision on the exam postponement comes or not.

The petition filed to postpone NEET PG 2022 has strongly mentioned the issues that the aspirants are facing and the delay in the 2021 counselling process. There is another serious issue regarding 5,000 interns who are not eligible to appear for NEE PG 2022 has also been mentioned in the petition. If the apex court gets convinced by the arguments, a decision to postpone the exam might come. If the court does not want to involve in policy matters of exam authority, the petition will outrightly be disposed of.
