The National Testing Agency (NTA), which is also known for conducting entrance examinations such as NEET, JEE Mains, admission tests for Delhi University as well as Jawaharlal Nehru University, will now be conducting the entrance examinations for Indira Gandhi National Open University. The Agency has been given the responsibility to conduct the examinations for MBA, i.e. OPENMAT and B.Ed Entrance tests for 2020 admissions, which is set to be conducted by NTA on July 27th 2019.
IGNOU released a statement stating the reason as to why IGNOU has chosen to pass the responsibility of conducting the entrance examinations over to the National Testing Agency as they are known to have conducted various kinds of online entrance test for various educational institutions offering higher education to the youth of India. They added that NTA is known to conduct the examinations that help compute the aptitude of the candidates in a transparent as well as efficient manner. They also stated that the NTA conducts the examinations as per the international standards.
The Vice-Chancellor of IGNOU, Nageshwar Rao, stated NTA has been chosen for its competency in the field of conducting the entrance examinations efficiently, transparently along with being a Government body. He further added that if the experiment goes well with MBA and B.Ed entrance examinations, then they plan to transfer the responsibility to the rest of the programme to NTA as well.
The interested candidates will be able to register online at www.ntaignou.nic.in. The candidates will have to register themselves at the website by 1st July 2019. Sources state that IGNOU will not be accepting hardcopy of the application form. The interested candidates can check out the list of all the programmes available under IGNOU. All the information regarding the courses can also be referred to on the official website of the University. The test is set to be conducted on 27th July for the January 2020 Batch.
