In a new interdisciplinary academic and research venture, the Indian Institute of Technology Bhubaneswar (IIT Bhubaneswar) and AIIMS Bhubaneswar come into a partnership. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) had been signed between the two institutes on Monday, 6th January 2020.
The HRD Union Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ was also present during the formation of the partnership between the two institutes. The HRD Minister also held a meeting between the officials of central institutes as well.
As per the memorandum, the two institutes will partake in joint research ventures along with collective supervision over doctoral and postgraduate students. The supervision will overlook the research initiatives that will be undertaken by the students of both institutes.
Commenting on the new interdisciplinary partnership that had been formed between the two institutes, the HRD Minister stated that India has been lacking in the area of interdisciplinary research.
During the formation of the partnership, the Minister added that the institutes in India should collaboratively work together and figure out methods to make the society a better place. Partnerships such as the one made between AIIMS Bhubaneswar and IIT Bhubaneswar should be encouraged across institutes in India.

In other news, earlier last year, AIIMS had begun reviewing its fee structure for the MBBS programmes across all AIIMS institutes in India. As per their statements, the fees that the students were paying were highly nominal for all academic-related expenses including hostel charges and stated that the AIIMS MBBS Fees need to be hiked.

Meanwhile, AIIMS has released the important dates for all the AIIMS PG admissions for the 2020 academic session. Candidates will be able to send in their applications for the respective programme by March 2020.
