The government has pledged that 5 nonfunctional medical colleges such as AIIMS Madurai, AIIMS Darbhanga, AIIMS Awantipora, AIIMS Rewari, and AIIMS Bengaluru will be fully functional by the end of 2025.  Based on the rank list released by the National Institute of Ranking Framework (NIRF), AIIMS Delhi has been positioned as the Number 1 Medical College in India. Also, AIIMS has been ranked 127th for Medicine Subjects in the QS World University Rankings for 2024.

AIIMS or All India Institute of Medical Sciences is the top most medical institute in the country. Till 2019, a seperate entrance exam was held by AIIMS for admission. But the exam was scrapped and admission into the MBBS course in AIIMS Delhi and other AIIMS colleges is granted based on the scores obtained in NEET UG 2024 Exam . Admission to Post Graduate (PG) Medical degrees is done based on students’ performance in the AIIMS INI CET 2024 .
