IIT Bombay: Postgrads Bag More Offers in Placements

Unlike the previous placement session at IIT Bombay, this year, students with master's degrees are have performed better as compared to the undergraduate students. The PG candidates are no more getting a raw deal.

While giving the information, a member of the IIT Bombay placement team said that the PG students are doing well compared to their counterparts of undergraduate students. This is because of the fact that there are less number of start-ups participating this year who mostly recruit B.Tech students. Not only that, the number of core companies participating is also higher this time.

This trend is not only in IIT Bombay, even other campuses also seem to have the same trend. N P Padhy, placement head of IIT Roorkee said that several core companies have visited their campus and they preferred postgraduate students compared to the students of undergraduate course. Already, a total of 180 postgraduate students have been placed by these companies.

Prominent companies that visited the campus of IIT Roorkee are -

  • Huawei Technologies
  • IBM
  • Hero Motors Ltd
  • EMC
  • SAP India

All the PG students of electrical and computer science engineering of IIT Guwahati have been placed by a variety of companies.

A source from IIT Madras revealed that out of 507 students, 203 PG students have been placed by different core companies. Some companies have taken more PG candidates because of the specialised nature of the profile.

Kaustubha Mohanty, Head of All-IIT Placement Committee or AIPC said that overall, the PG students had done better this year compared to the previous year.
