IIT Hyderabad and Telangana Government Collaborate for AI Research

IIT Madras is going to collaborate with the Telangana government to start research on Artificial Intelligence. IIT Hyderabad will also be working on education and training in order to prepare an educational curriculum which will be instilled to deliver training to the students and industrial partners.

IIT Hyderabad and Telangana Government Collaboration for AI Research

IIT Hyderabad has decided to collaborate with the Telangana government to start research on Artificial Intelligence. for the industrial partners to identify the quality dataset, the institute will also be partnering with Electronics and Communication (ITE&C) Department, Information Technology, and Government of Telangana. IIT Hyderabad will also be working on education and training in order to prepare an educational curriculum which will be instilled to deliver training to the students and industrial partners.

As a part of ‘2020: Declaring Telangana’s Year of AI’ initiative held on January 2, Prof B.S. Murty, Director, of IIT Hyderabad, Mr Jayesh Ranjan, IAS, Principal Secretary to Government of Telangana, Industries and Commerce (I&C), and Departments of Information Technology (IT) signed an MoU for the collaboration.

The year 2020 has been declared by the Telangana government as the year of Artificial Intelligence in order to implement it in different departments including healthcare, transportation, agriculture, and others. As a part of the collaboration, the ITE&C department intends to enhance the ecosystem of the industry to enhance the services by leveraging emerging technologies.

Head of the Department of Artificial Intelligence at IIT Hyderabad, Dr Vineeth N. Balasubramanian stated that the collaboration provides a platform where we can implement our expertise in AI to create something effective for social good as well as state government. He further stated that the collaboration with the Telangana government will also allow us to use the ideal platform to connect with colleges training, startups and industrial leaders in AI and Research.
