Around 1,200 students have registered for the first round of placement drive of Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur which is going to take place from December 1 to December 22, 2016. Around 300 foreign and Indian companies and various Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) will participate in the recruitment process. The second phase of placement drive will commence in February 2017.
Various companies like Facebook, Oracle, Microsoft, IBM are expected to join the placement drive. The students who have registered for the first round of recruitments are being trained in communication and interview skills. Last year, around 90% of the students secured jobs in the campus placements. The officials are working consistently to place a maximum number of students in the current academic session.

This year, the pre-placement season had already begun in the month of July at IIT-Kharagpur where the students received more than 53 pre-placement offers from top companies. Most of these students undertook summer internships in these companies in May which matured into pre-placement offers.
This year, IIT-Bombay had blacklisted nine companies from the placements as most of the job opportunities of these companies are found to be fake. Some of the companies even delayed the joining dates of the selected candidates.
