- IIT Kharagpur bagged gold in Inter IIT Tech Meet 2018 that took place at IIT Madras from January 5 to 7, 2018.
- IIT Roorkee and IIT Madras bagged second and third spots respectively amongst the 19 IITs that took part.
Students of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur have emerged as winners of Inter IIT Tech Meet 2018. The students from IIT Kharagpur competed with 19 IITs across the country and bagged gold by scoring over 832 points.IIT Roorkee andIIT Madras bagged second and third spots respectively. For the first time, the event witnessed the participation of 19 IITs.

The Inter IIT Tech Meet was organised to enable participants to offer quick solutions to the common problems and challenges faced by the people. The event comprised of 10 competitions. Some of the competitions were: -
- Automatic Toilet Cleaning
- Exoplanet Detection
- Engineer’s Conclave
Apart from the above, a hackathon was organised on developing an orbital simulator. Similarly, a case study event was hosted to throw light on issues associated with agriculture, energy efficient technologies, defence services and health care.

During the event, students have come up with different solutions for: -
- Countering Ransomware that could delete inventory data
- Warehouse inventory check through an aerial vehicle
- Technology for upgrading gear of soldiers
- Safety devise for fishing vessels
The following are some of the projects exhibited by the students of IIT Kharagpur: -
- Technology for reusable polymeric pallets that replace the excessive use of water and detergent in the laundry
- Cost effective blind E-book reader and stick
- Universal terrain explorer
- Bomb retriever
- Waterless Toilet
