The world celebrates the World Nursing Day on 12th May 2020. International Nurses Day is celebrated every year to celebrate Florence Nightingale's Birth Anniversary and to highlight the importance of nurses in the healthcare sector. The theme for International Nurses Day 2020 is - "Nursing the World to Health"

This year it is the 200th anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale and WHO has partnered with hundreds of partners across the globe to highlight the importance of nurses in the healthcare sector and to thank nurses for all that they do. We have witnessed the important role played by the Nurses to battle COVID-19. Nurses are the front line workers who are working day and night to fight the pandemic and save lives of those affected with the virus.

According to the official statement of WHO, the Coronavirus outbreak is a stark reminder of the important role nurses plays. Without nurses and other healthcare workers, the fight against pandemic will not be possible.
