JEE Main Question Paper 24 January 2023: National Testing Agency has conducted the Day 1 exam of JEE Main 2023 Session 1 on January 24 in two shifts for Paper 1 (B.E/ B.Tech). The mode of exam was online, and the candidates can check the memory-based question paper of JEE Main 24 January 2023 for both shifts here now. As the exam was in a computer-based format, the candidates won't have a physical copy of the question paper, and the memory-based questions with solutions mentioned here will help the candidates to check answers and estimate their performance. Candidates appearing for JEE Main 2023 Session 1 on January 25, 29, 30, 31 and February 1 can check and download the JEE Main 24 January 2023 question paper so that they can plan their last-minute revision accordingly.​​​

JEE Main 24 January 2023 First Reactions Shift 1

The initial key reactions of the students have been updated here:
  • The shift 1 paper was said to be of a moderate to difficult level.
  • There were mixed reactions for the physics section. Some found it to be the most difficult section while some found it to be easy to moderate.
  • Mathematics questions were easy to moderate but mostly lengthy. Some students also found mathematics to be tough, mainly because it was lengthy.
  • Chemistry was of a moderate difficulty level and mainly theoretical.
  • Equal weightage was given to organic and inorganic chemistry. Slightly more weightage was given to organic chemistry.
  • There were three assertion-reason questions in the paper.
  • Although questions were not repeated, the question concept was repeated from the previous years' papers.
  • Chemistry was only from NCERT books

JEE Main 24 January 2023 First Reactions Shift 2

The initial key reactions of the students have been updated here:

  • As per the feedback received from the candidates, Maths and Chemistry were reported to be tougher than Physics.
  • Also, the paper was said to be comparatively easier when compared to the average difficulty level of the previous year's sessions.
  • The average difficulty level of the paper can be classified as 'Easy to Moderate'
  • Physics was mainly easy. Chemistry was moderate. Maths was said to have confusing questions with heavy calculations.
  • When comparing the topics, Calculus in Mathematics was easy to moderate. But there were many mixed questions which made the section overall tough.
  • Organic chemistry had more weightage than that of inorganic chemistry even in shift 2.
  • NAT questions were more from physical chemistry.
  • Mainly theory questions only were asked from JEE Main specific topics like semiconductors, chemistry in everyday life, environmental chemistry, mathematical reasoning, etc. There were no questions from States of Matter in JEE Main today paper for shift 2.
  • Chemistry was completely from NCERT as it was for the morning shift. There were no questions from biomolecules and polymers.
  • Physics was mainly formula-based, similar to that of the morning shift.

JEE Main official answer key 2023 is expected to be released in the first week of February. The expected date of JEE Main Session 1 result 2023 is the second week of February for Paper 1. However, the Paper 2 result will be declared late.

    JEE Main 24 Jan Shift 2 Paper Analysis: First Reactions

    The paper can be said to have an 'Easy to Moderate' difficulty level. Physics was mainly easy and formula-based. Chemistry was moderate with almost all questions from NCERT. Maths was slightly difficult. In Maths, there were mixed questions for two or more topics and the calculations were lengthy.

    JEE Main Today Paper: No technical issues reported for Shift 1

    While there are multiple issues regarding the admit cards, the candidates who appeared for today's shift 1 have not reported any technical errors in the computer systems because of which they could not give their papers or faced difficulty in doing so. However, students faced issues regarding Aadhar cards at some exam centres. While NTA has allowed certain original ID proofs, some centres demanded only Aadhar cards for entry. Hence, candidates of upcoming shifts are advised to prefer their Aadhar card only as valid ID proof unless unavailable.

    Despite the notice issued by the NTA regarding the duplicate application forms, many students are still facing issues regarding the download of admit card for their tomorrow's examination. Many students are unable to download the admit cards. Identical twins are facing issues as well because of the cited reason of 'duplicate photographs'.

    Saurabh Kumar, Chief Academics Officer at Vidyamandir Classes said that the difficulty level of JEE Main today paper was the same as that of the previous year. He continued by saying that the Physics section in Shift 1 was formula-based and the maths section was a bit difficult and lengthy.

Also, the admit cards of those candidates who have submitted duplicate applications have been withheld and only be released after they have submitted a proper clarification.

    Will JEE Main 2023 Question Paper be released by NTA?

    Until 2021, the National Testing Agency used to release JEE Main question papers for all shifts together, after the results are declared. However, the agency did not release any papers for 2022. Hence, it is likely that this year too NTA will not release any question papers. Even if it did, it will be released after the completion of both sessions. Hence, candidates of the current year will not be able to use these papers for practice.
