Three leading Indian universities including Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Jamia Hamdard and Jamia Millia Islamia along with an international university, i.e., University of California have come forward to discuss ways for improving research and teaching standards in varied fields at the initiative of Chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia and Governor of Manipur, Dr. Najma A Hepatulla. On August 18, 2017, Vice Chancellors of AMU, Jamia Millia Islamia, Jamia Hamdard and Former Executive VC of the University of California have met in JMI under the Chairmanship of Chancellor Dr. Hepatulla. The main objective of the meeting was to discuss general areas of cooperation and possibilities of exchange of students, faculty and collaborative research.

Addressing the dignitaries and professionals, Chancellor of JMI, Dr. Hepatulla mentioned that the objective of the collaboration is to make Jamia Millia Islamia a top university nationally and globally. The collaborations with the top universities across the country and world will help JMI to improve the standards.
On this occasion, Vice Chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia, Mr. Ahmed pointed that the varsities have been facing a shortage of resources. Therefore, the varsities can pool the available resources as well as share research and technical knowledge, particularly in the fields of science and technology.

Former Executive Vice Chancellor of the University of California, Prof. D. Anieri pointed that all the four universities could work together for pooling the resources and file Intellectual Property Rights for reducing the costs incurred in it. Through this process, it would be easy for all the four universities to patent their inventions.
