Kerala University will be launching a number of programmes to promote research activities in the University. The oldest University of the state will be introducing post-doctoral fellowship programme to attracting researchers to the Science departments under Kerala University.
The Varsity documents and sources say that the fellowship would be managed by the national agencies and Rs. 25 lakh has been set aside for the programme. The programme will begin next academic year.
For the development on the academic front, the University is going to set up an advisory committee which will comprise of professors, retired vice chancellors, and statutory officers. These people will help with expert opinions regarding academic developments.
Apart from this, in order to keep up with the UGC’s Adjunct Faculty Model Programme, the University will also be introducing a Scholar in the Resident Programme. The programme was already mentioned during the budget presentation of the University and Rs. 40 lakh has been allocated for it. Many esteemed people from the social and cultural sectors of the industry, retired professors and many celebrated scholars will be interacting with the students of Kerala University.
To promote and encourage the research activities, the University has also increased the number of Ph.D. fellowship to 40 and has also decided to increase the research amount to Rs.20,000.
