Kerala University PG Admission 2024 seat allotment list will be released by the official conducting authority. Kerala University is a good option for candidates who want to pursue postgraduate studies at a recognised university in India. Kerala University, founded in 1937, has gone through various transition phases and grown to become one of our country's top 16 universities. During its early years, it was known as the University of Travancore, and only ten colleges in the same state were affiliated with it.

The university has evolved in many ways over time. It currently has 41 departments that offer teaching and research programmes. Every department is linked with the same goal in mind: to provide knowledge and research facilities. The university offers a wide range of courses, but the primary emphasis is on PG programmes, MPhil programmes, and doctoral research. Kerala University Eligibility Criteria for PG Courses

Different criteria are set for PG Courses at Kerala University. We can categorize them into two sections:

Kerala University PG Course Eligibility Criteria based on Native Place

Candidates will be categorized as Keralite and Non-Keralite. Eligibility Criteria for this category are tabulated below:

Keralite

Non-Keralite

  • Candidates born in Kerala are considered Keralite.
  • Children of All India Service Officers working in the Kerala Cadre are considered Keralite.
  • These candidates are not entitled to special or community reservations.
  • Candidates not born in Kerala are considered as Non-Keralite.
  • Children not born to all India Service
  • Officers allotted to Kerala Cadre are considered as Non-Keralite.
  • These candidates will get admission once the Keralite applicants get their ranking and allocation.
  • Fees concession and Communal reservation are not applicable for these candidates.

Kerala University PG Course Eligibility Criteria Based on Academic Performance

  1. Aspirants for PG courses in Kerala University need to attain an equivalent degree examination (10+2+3) with the core course as well as with one main subject and two subsidiary subjects from any college of Kerala University or any other universities recognized by K.U.
  2. If a candidate has qualified in degree examination with any vocational or specialized courses, he/she can also apply for the PG programs of the university. In that case, candidates need to submit an Equivalency and Eligibility Certificate declaring that their Degree Examination is recognized for Kerala University PG Courses.

Kerala University Eligibility Criteria for PG Courses

The university-instructed eligibility criteria are given below to help the candidates:

MA

Candidates need to graduate in any of the following subjects in their graduation: BA in English Language and Literature, BA in Communicative English (Vocational),

BA in Communicative English or BA/BSc with scores obtained in at least 4 English Language Courses, BA in English and Communicative English, Malayalam, Hindi, Geography, History, Sociology, Political Science, Economics, Islamic History, Public Administration, Linguistics, Music, Archaeology, etc.

MCom

Candidates with 50% or above marks in the commerce stream from any recognized university are eligible for MCOM.

MSc

Candidates having a Bachelor’s Degree in any of these science-based subjects like Mathematics, Biotechnology, Chemistry, or Physics from a recognized university can apply for the course.

MArch.

Candidates with A Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture with at least 50% from any recognized university are eligible for the course.

MPlan

Candidates with a BPlan degree having 55% minimum scores from any recognized university are eligible for the course.

MSW

Candidates with a degree course in streams like B.A, BSc., Commerce, Social Science, Law, BBA, and BSW from any recognized university can apply for this course.

MSJ

Candidates who graduated in any bachelor’s courses from a recognized university are eligible.

M.Ed

Candidates need to have a B.Ed degree from any recognized university.

Kerala University PG Admission Application Process

The University of Kerala offers Post Graduate Admission through an online application process. Candidates can complete the entire process in a very hassle-free manner if the university-mentioned instructions are followed appropriately. The rules applicants need to follow during the PG admission application process are as follows: -

  • Candidates aspiring to enroll in PG courses in any affiliated colleges of Kerala University need to register through the official website of the university http://admissionskeralauniversity.ac.in
  • Javascript should be enabled on your device before the candidates proceed to the registration process.
  • Candidates need to read and follow the regulations very well before applying to their desired course.
  • Candidates need not press the “back” button while they continue the registration process.

Step 1: Candidates need to create an account to generate their application number and password. To do this, they need to visit the university’s official website and click on the “Click here for Registration” button. They will be directed to a page where they will have to provide the details like name, date of birth, category, gender, registration no, year of passing, email id, etc. On the completion of this process, candidates will be provided with their application no and password which they need to note for future use.

Step 2: Now, the candidates will have to log into their accounts with their login details (application number and password).

Step 3: After carefully reading the instructions, click on the “Proceed” button and provide the information asked for. Upload your signature, recent photo, and necessary documents.

Step 4: When the above-mentioned process is done successfully, you need to generate your challan. You will be automatically directed to a payment gateway page where you will have to click the “Pay Online” button.  The university only allows Credit Card, Debit Card, and Net Banking for the payment of registration fees.

Step 5: Upon the completion of the payment process, the applicants need to click on the “Print Completed Application” button to get the printout of the application form.

Step 6: After the completion of the registration process, candidates need to mandatorily change the password for the next login.

Kerala University PG Admission Application Fee

  • University will not receive the registration fees in any other form like Demand Draft, Challan, or Bank Cheque.
  • Payment once remitted can not be refunded under any circumstances.
  • Online payment receipt must be kept very carefully as the same will be required at the time of admission.

Kerala University PG Admission Selection Process

The University has a structured selection process for all the courses it offers. Candidates’ potential is tested through an entrance exam followed by an interview session. They are selected according to their scores in both the entrance examination and interview session. Candidates need to acquire a minimum of 25% of the average marks of their stream. SC/ST candidates get a concession of 5% here.

The ranking list is prepared based on the performance of the entrance exam, aggregate marks in degree course level, and scores obtained in personal interview sessions. Candidates having ranked in national level entrance examinations like CMAT/ KU CAT/GATE/ KLEE are also selected for admission to PG courses like MBA, M.Tech, LLM, etc.

Kerala University PG Admission Allotment

The University of Kerala strictly maintains a centralized allotment procedure that is conducted online. We have highlighted here the allotment structure for the convenience of the applicants:

Trial Allotment

  • This kind of allotment procedure is done to give knowledge about the chances of admission a candidate will get in their desired PG program at a particular college.
  • The entire allotment idea will be provided depending on the options a candidate provided at the time of application.
  • A period will be mentioned for revising the provided options.
  • This allotment does not secure the final admission.

First Allotment

  • Once the period for revising the options will get over, the first allotment will be published.
  • The date of the first allotment will be notified beforehand.
  • Candidates will have to check the allotment details in the “Allotment” link provided in their profiles.
  • If they get an allotment, they need to remit the University fees to secure their seats.
  • If the candidates fail to remit the mentioned fees, they will not get the chance for further allotment.
  • After the first allotment, the candidates need to keep an eye on the university notification for admission.

Second Allotment

  • The list of second allotments will be published on the scheduled date.
  • Once the candidates get an allotment, the university fees need to be remitted.

PG Admission Post Allotment Activities

Following pointers describes the Kerela University PG admission post allotment activities for all the candidates.
  • After completing the second allotment, candidates will be required to download the Allotment Memo that they will have to submit during admission.
  • Candidates can get the Allotment Memo by logging into their account with their application number and password.
  • Allotment Memo shows the information related to allotment like the course and college the candidates are allotted to. Therefore, it must be kept very safely for future use.
  • The Allotment emo needs to be produced before the Principal or the concerned authorities at the time of admission.
  • It is very important to note that the Allotment Memo cannot be issued twice under any circumstances.

List of Documents Required for Kerala University PG Admission

Documents in support of candidature need to be submitted during the admission process. Following is the list of some of the important documents candidates will be required for submission:

  • Original receipt copy of the online registration fees
  • Original receipt copy of the admission fees.
  • A printed copy of the submitted application form.
  • Original marks sheets or certificates of the qualifying examinations.
  • Certificate of course and conduct.
  • Proof of date of birth.
  • Transfer Certificates of previous institutions/ colleges.
  • Allotment letter of Kerala University for those who are seeking admission through any centralized allotment process.
  • Migration certificate of previous university/board.
  • Cast certificate for SC/ST quota.
  • Community and income certificate for OEC/SEBC castes( if required)
  • Eligibility Certificate of Kerala University for the candidates who have passed the equivalent exam from other universities.
  • Course cancellation note from the previous university.
  • Other relevant documents in support of any claim that needs to be mentioned in the application.
  • Certificate to prove BPL quota. (if applicable)
