In 2017, over 40,000 students registered for B.Ed course in Maharashtra, and it clearly indicates the existing demand for this professional course.

However, the syllabus and curriculum of B.Ed course are not at par with the advancement in technology. Over decades, the syllabus of B.Ed course almost remained same with some minor changes. Teacher Foundation in Bangalore offers two courses that act as an alternative to the B.Ed course for some schools. These courses are: -

  • The New Teacher – A 16-month full-time course equivalent to B.Ed
  • Teach-Now – A none-month duration course comprising of eight modules. InTASC designed the course. Teachers who complete the InTASC are eligible to work in international skills that accept InTASC.

Apart from the courses mentioned above, Oxford University Press (OUP) offers Online Teacher Training, which will act as an additional qualification for B.Ed graduates. Similarly, the organisation conducts Train 2 Transform Workshops to hone the skills of teachers.

B.Ed graduates and teachers who are looking forward to building a career and stay updates with international standards can take up CENTA Certification Programme.

CENTA offers three certificates such as: -

  • Senior Teacher – It will be awarded to teachers with more than 10 years of experience.
  • Experienced Teacher for those with 3 to 10 years of teaching experience
  • New Teachers for those in beginning stage or yet to build a career

A B.Ed graduate with CENTA certificate is termed a specialist teacher in their chosen field.

OUP India conducts over 1,500 teacher training workshops every year. Apart from these, the organisation offers teacher development courses.
