Major software company IBM made their presence at the second phase of the placement drive at IIT-Kanpur that kick started.
Companies which could not come from Chennai in the first phase due to the floods have shown their interest of coming to IITK for recruiting the students in the second phase.
In the first phase which lasted for 22 days after starting on December 1, about 860 students had found placement. While in this phase only 200 students are left to be placed.
“More than 50 companies have confirmed to come to the campus till February 15 for hiring students. He said that by March 11, about 110 companies will be coming to the IIT campus,” said a source from Placement section of the Institute.
“All the final year students from departments such as computer science, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering department’s stand placed in the first phase itself and in this phase. While students from the civil engineering, aerospace engineering, material sciences, chemistry, physics department students appeared for the interviews. The students belonging to the core courses would be sitting in the interviews. In second phase, more than 110 students have got themselves registered,” said source from the institute.
