MG University Kottayam Introduces 15 Short-term Job-Oriented Courses

Mahatma Gandhi University Kottayam has announced the launch of 15 short-term programmes that are job-oriented. The programmes will be offered as certificate courses, PG certificate courses, Diploma programmes as well as PG Diploma programmes. The candidates can apply by 21st July 2019.

MG University Kottayam Introduces 15 Short-term Job-Oriented Courses

Mahatma Gandhi University in Kottayam has just launched 15 new short-term courses that are job-oriented for its students. The courses, as per sources, are aimed at the modern issues and upcoming fields and industries in the world. The short-term courses that will be available to the students from this academic year include Certificate courses, PG Certificate Courses along with Diploma and PG Diploma programmes.

The courses that MG University will be offering under the certificate programmes, which will be conducted for a time period of 6 months, include Extruder Operator for Polymer Industry Applications (CEOPIA), Business Data Analysis (CBDA), Waste Management (CWM), Film, Culture and Society (CFCS), Internet Programming and Web Technologies, Water Harvesting and Management (CWHM), Event Management (CEM) and Parenting Psychology (CPP). The candidates who are interested in any one of these programmes, the eligibility criteria that they will need is to pass class 12 board examinations.

There are five PG Certificate programmes that MG University will be releasing for the students which will also be conducted for a duration of 6 months. The courses that the students will be able to pursue at the University will be Nano-Science and Nanotechnology (PGCNNT), Instrumental Methods of Chemical Analysis (PGCIMCA), Food Analysis and Quality Control (PGCFAQC), Emotional Intelligence Development (PGCIED) as well as English Language Teaching (PGCELT). The candidates who are planning to join one of these programmes will need to have a graduate degree in any field.

Mahatma Gandhi University Kottayam will also be providing the students with the option of pursuing either a Diploma or a PG Diploma. The Varsity will be releasing one course each for either of the programmes, i.e. Diploma in Computerised Financial Accounting and Taxation (DCFAT), meanwhile, for PG Diploma, the students will be offered a new programme in Food Analysis and Quality Control (PGDFAQC). The candidates who wish to pursue the diploma programme will require them to pass the class 12 board examination, while, the candidates wishing to follow the PG Diploma programme would require them to have a graduate degree.

In a statement made by the Vice-Chancellor of MG University, Sabu Thomas, he stated that the varsity is the first university in the state of Kerala that has launched programmes in these subjects. He also announced that the varsity has set no age-limit for the programmes. He added that the classes for these programmes will be held during all the Sundays for the period of the programme along with every second Saturdays.

The Vice-Chancellor also stated that the programmes will be taught under the guidance of 8 departments along with 5 different research centres of Mahatma Gandhi University. In addition, the students who are currently pursuing UG and PG programmes are also eligible for the programmes. Along with these programmes, Sabu Thomas also announced that the varsity will also be launching crash courses which will be held during vacations. The students who wish to pursue any of one of these programmes, the VC stated, will have to shed anywhere between ₹6,000 and ₹25,000 as the fees for the courses.

Sources state that Mahatma Gandhi University Kottayam is accepting the application to the admission into the programmes. They further added that the students will be able to apply to any one of the programmes till 21st July 2019, before 4 pm. The candidates will have to visit the official website to fill out the application form and for any further queries on the programmes.
