This year, 33,357 candidates have applied for NEET UG 2020 from Jammu and Kashmir. The number of applicants has increased significantly from the region, which was 26,595 last year. A total of 15,93,452 candidates registered themselves for NEET-UG 2020 (National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test - Undergraduate) from all over the country.
From this year, NEET - UG 2020 has become obligatory for AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences) and JIPMER (Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research) admissions. So, it was expected that the number of applicants would go up for medical examinations. Until last year, these medical colleges used to enrol students as per their own entrance examinations, which no longer is the case. An increase of 74,083 candidates or 4.87 per cent of the total applicants from last year has been recorded in this NEET UG 2020 application process. In spite of the region's internet restrictions, the number of applications from Jammu and Kashmir has also increased compared to last year’s data. At the time of filling up the NEET UG 2020 application, NTA also approved of offline applications for the students applying from the J&K region.
