The students from National Students Union Of India (NSUI) Nagpur staged a protest against Smriti Irani - Minister for Human Resource and Development demanding her resignation over Dali student Rohith Vemula suicide case.

The students staged a protest last week over the suicide of Rohith Vermula, a young Dalit scholar who had been suspended by his university in Hyderabad. Nearly more than 150 students including boys and girls from NSUI Nagpur gathered in back gate of Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT), Nagpur.

The protests took place outside the the Bajaj Nagar Gate of VNIT (Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology Nagpur). Students demanded the resignation of HRD Minister Smriti Irani with black flags in their hands. All the students were trying to enter in VNIT campus but police stopped them the gates.

Large police force was already there at all the gates of VNIT. Commendable work by police was reported here, as they handled the situation carefully, especially because students were furious and trying to enter in VNIT campus.

Police arrested all protesting stuents and took them to police station by police van.
