1,520 innovative projects were demonstrated prior to the graduation season in LPU. The innovations include AI-powered driverless car and chatting app for the blind.

Lovely Professional University or LPU generates many interesting projects by students per year with their practical learning outside classroom outlook that encourages students to use their bookish knowledge for practical projects which are innovative and suitable for real-life problem-solving. Even this year, 1520 projects were showcased by the students of LPU. Out of thousands of projects made by the students of LPU, 1520 are selected for the annual showcase under the ‘Annual Graduation Project Expo-2019’ event held annually in LPU.

The expo is organised in the open arena by Baldev Raj Mittal Unipolis. This allows all students and visitors to see the projects and receive critical comments on the projects which will encourage students with more innovative ideas.

There were projects for Daily utility in LPU, some group projects were highly industry oriented real-life problem-solving projects. ‘immense utility & amazing innovation’ projects included the demonstrations of Automatic Head-Lights’ Dimmer, Road-Pavers from Waste Plastic, Chatting App ‘Howdy’ particularly for blinds, Machine Painting, Oxygen from Algae, Stairs scaling Cart, Flying Farmer, Automatic Robotic Arm, AI-based Driverless Car, Water Saving technologies and many more.

The Head Light Dimmers is an automatic mechanism that senses if there is any car coming from the opposite side and dims the headlights automatically which will be helpful to avoid accidents in night time mostly in highways.

Howdy is a chatting app made specially keeping the needs of blind people in mind. This app automatically reads out messages received and its integration with Google assistant helps to send messages by voice recognition technology.

GloAlgeus is a startup named for the project ‘Oxygen from Algae.’ this project demonstrates how Algae can be useful to improve the air quality in Metros. 70% of the oxygen on the earth comes from algae and the project demonstrates how it can be taken through photosynthesis in dark with an artificial environment.

The automatic robotic arm can do work even in the dark and is controlled by a smartphone app

There was a presence of a wheelchair that can be controlled by gesture. The technology expectedly can prove to be fruitful for the semi-paralyzed patients and for those old age people who suffer to perform physical activities to move a wheelchair.

Except these, Artificial intelligence based driverless cars, automatic water irrigation system caught the attention of the faculties and visitors equally.

Mrs Rashmi Mittal, the pro-chancellor of LPU applauded the endeavours of students who are always eager to help the society with their knowledge and she also encouraged creativity within them. Sri Prakash Javedkar, a minister from HRD Ministry was rejoiced after riding the driverless AI-powered bus created by the LPU Students. Three of the many student-teams of LPU of innovative projects were adjudged as the winners of the government-run ‘Grand Finale of the ‘Startup India Punjab Yatra’ which is held at Indian School of Business, Chandigarh.
