In a move to discourage cheating in the examination hall, Patna University ordered students to take their examination in barefoot - the move turned the University into places of worship in a symbolic manner.
All the students taking the Degree Part I exams of the Patna University (PU) entered the examination halls barefoot.
It is noteworthy that the decision of making students write the exams without shoes/ sandals was taken in a meeting chaired by the Vice-Chancellor Mr Y.C Simhadri.
Following the VC’s orders regarding the ban on wearing footwear’s during the papers, all the examinees have been asked to take off the shoes getting into the exam hall.
The Vice chancellor Mr Y.C. Simhadri had also reached the centre well before starting of the examination & inspected personally, each & every examinee at the entrance gate.
According to the officials in the colleges, a large no of shoes were lying outside the exam halls of the college. The college somewhat resembled a religious temple where the devotees would open the shoes at the entrance.
Later, the Vice Chancellor also went on to visit the Bihar National College centre & asked the examinees not to take the exams in shoes.
The VC had ordered ban on wearing footwear at the Patna Science College (PSC) centre in the last week, on complaints that a lot of examinees hide their notes and chits inside their shoes.
