The plea to make this year’s Board examinations hybrid also questions the planning and application of the board officials regarding conducting the exams in offline mode. The students feel that offline exams will increase the risk of spreading the COVID-19 infection and can become a “Super Spreader” event. The students also fear that their other exams will also be affected if they contract the virus while appearing for their respective board exams in offline mode.
The CBSE class 10th and 12th term 1 2022 exam (major subjects) is scheduled to begin from 30th November and 01st December 2021 respectively. Similarly, the CISCE class 10th and 12th 2022 exam (first term) will be conducted from 29th November and 22nd November 2021 respectively. It remains to be seen though whether the Boards have enough time and resources to plan the exams if the SC gives a nod to the Hybrid Exam theory.
The petition, aiming to quash the two circulars released by ICSE and CBSE regarding the first term class Xth and XIIth examinations, has garnered quite the storm in social media as well. Hashtags such as #Maketerm1hybrid and #Maketerm1online have been trending on Twitter for quite some time now.
