With the increase in the number of Covid-19 cases in Maharashtra, there is uncertainty whether MHT CET 2020 be conducted or cancelled.

Will MHT CET 2020 be Cancelled

MHT CET 2020, which was scheduled to begin from July 04, 2020, has been postponed. So far, CET Cell Maharashtra has not given any clarity on the new exam date for the entrance test. CET Cell planned to conduct the exam in multiple shifts, and the exam has been postponed due to an increase in the number of Covid-19 cases. Maharashtra is the worst affected state in India with the highest number of Covid-19 cases. Recently, the state government has also informed the Centre that it could not conduct the final-year exams. In such a scenario, students and parents raise doubts about conducting MHT CET 2020.

Is Maharashtra Government Planning to Conduct Remote Proctored Test for MHT CET?

An idea has been proposed by a committee with regard to the online proctored test for MHT CET 2020. If this idea gets approved by the government, students can take the entrance test from home. Students who do not have a computer/ laptop with internet can choose to appear for the entrance exam through test centre. So far, the idea has not been approved. Please wait for the official confirmation.

Is there any Chance to Conduct MHT CET 2020 in September?

Conducting MHT CET 2020 in September will be possible only if the number of Covid-19 cases reduces in the state. If the cases keep increasing, the state government will either postpone or cancel MHT CET. If JEE Main exam takes place in September, MHT CET will also be conducted.

Is there any chance for the Cancellation of MHT CET 2020?

If CET Cell wants to conduct MHT CET 2020 in August or September, the exam has to be divided into multiple sessions. At the same time, social distancing measures and other safety measures have to be followed in each exam centre. As Maharashtra has the highest Covid-19 cases, is it possible to hold an exam with strict safety measures? It will be a challenging task for the government.

Alternative Admission Process if MHT CET 2020 is Cancelled

If State Common Entrance Test Cell decides to cancel MHT CET 2020, the admission process will be based on Class 12th marks. The government will conduct the online counselling for admissions, and the candidates who have registered for the entrance exam will have to take part in the counselling process. A merit list will be released which will have candidate’s aggregate marks in 12th and merit position. Candidates with JEE Main score can also take part in the MHT CET counselling process.

Is it Better to Go for Provisional B.Tech Admission?

If you are aspiring for admission in top private universities, it is advisable to take the provisional admission before the seats are filled. If you are aspiring for admission through state quota, you will have to wait for the counselling to happen. You can choose provisional admission only if your aim is to pursue B.Tech from a top private deemed university.
