Delhi University officials advised the students to give more preference to course than colleges. Students who take admission in various courses after clearing the cut-off can go ahead with the college in which they secured admission. Even if the allotment of college is against candidates’ wish, they need to take admission since they have secured admission in course as per their wish. However, it is not a compulsory rule and the aspirants are not bound to follow it.

The topic had come up for discussion during the Open Day session that took place on May 28, 2018. Since it is the first session after the announcement of CBSE Class 12 Results, many students took part in the session to clear their doubts pertaining to DU application and admission process for UG courses. Among them, most students asked about the process of calculating the best of four score and reservation for girls. Some students have also asked whether DU offers B.Tech courses or not.

During the discussion, a parent raised a question on what a student must do if he/ she clear the first cut-off and secure admission in college against his/ her wish.

Answering to the question, Deputy Dean of Students Welfare, Amrita Bajaj strongly recommended taking admission as soon as students clear cut-off. Firstly, students need to try to secure a seat. Later, they can cancel their admission and go to another college. Students should not wait if they clear cut-off.

Amrita Bajaj also clarified that there is no specific quota for girl students at Delhi University. Some colleges give a relaxation of 1% to girls during the admission process, she explained.

The University of Delhi application process for UG courses has been progressing in a rapid phase. So far, close to 4 lakh students registered for admission to DU colleges. June 07, 2018, is the last date to submit the online application for DU admissions.
