AIIMS administration initiates a survey to check the infrastructural needs for turning into a world-class medical university. Authorities have asked HoDs to list their needs and vision during the survey.
AIIMS administration decides on conducting a survey to access the infrastructure and space requirements for its departments and faculties. The vision of the survey is to make the institute a world-class medical university by the end of 2024. Union Cabinet gave a green flag to the redevelopment plan in the month of March.
To implement the process, the office administration of AIIMS has asked all heads of departments to prepare a list of their needs that are essential to make respective departments equivalent to the world’s top universities. HoDs can also suggest their vision towards the redevelopment plan.
The master plan of redevelopments eyes on freeing up adequate spaces within the institutional area through reorganizing. It also aims to expand land usage in order to make appropriate use of the allocated recourses. The model is being prepared to suffice for the next 20 years.

The authorities would prefer to prepare a single comprehensive report that includes suggestions, needs, and visions of all departments, faculties, and individuals working for the organisations. The infrastructural changes made in the organisation would be more than just patient care needs. Departments can mention the need for manpower, staff, space, and equipment in this document.
Apart from HoDs, suggestions regarding the future need of OPD rooms, indoor beds, clinical labs & equipment, ICU beds, day-care beds, operation theatres, etc will also be part of the study. Suggestions regarding the academic and research needs of undergraduate and postgraduate students will also be considered in the final model.

Apart from meeting standards world-class medical universities, the project eyes on making AIIMS one campus for operative, physiotherapeutic, investigative, vocational and rehabilitative requirements of patients.
