AISU (Association of Indian Skill Universities) has decided to submit suggestions and recommendations on norms for skill universities. Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) is going to organise a meeting on January 12, 2018, and the representatives of AISU will submit their proposals to the ministry during the meeting. The meeting is scheduled to take place at Pune.
President of AISU Vice Chancellor of BSDU (Bharatiya Skill Development University) prepared the recommendations after holding consultations with the representatives and VCs of seven skill universities across the country. He claimed that the University Grants Commission did not prescribe norms for skill universities. Therefore, AISU decided to submit its proposal detailing recommendations and suggestions on norms for skill universities, he added.
VC of BSDU stated that the meeting that is being organised by MSDE is a favourable platform for presenting recommendations for skill universities to ministry and UGC. Some of the suggestions of AISU include nomenclature of degrees from M.Voc and B.Voc to M.Skill and B.Skill, suggestions regarding territorial jurisdiction limit of skill universities, flexibility to enrol students from Class 9 and holding virtual classes to students, he revealed.
AISU is expecting a positive response from UGC and MSDE regarding the recommendations. Based on the recommendations of AISU, UGC will prepare guidelines and norms for skill universities. Proper norms will enable the skill universities to function in a planned manner. More details in this regard will be out on January 12, 2018.
