Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay climbed up to the 13th position in the renowned Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) University Rankings BRICS for the year 2016.

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay climbed up to the 13th position in the renowned Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) University Rankings BRICS for the year 2016.

The QS ranking list 2016 was announced on Wednesday by QS, a global higher education analyst.

In a press release, IIT Bombay stated that it ranks second in India ad is seven ranks behind the prestigious Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore that is placed sixth.

IIT Bombay was ranked 16th in the QS University Rankings 2015 and has moved up by three positions this year.

Expressing his happiness on the significant achievement, Prof Devang Khakhar, Director of IIT Bombay expressed his happiness on achieving this status of prominence and said that the rise in rank is the evidence of the efforts and progress made by IIT Bombay, especially in the field of research.

IIT Delhi and IIT Madras are also ranked among the top 20 at the 15th and 19th position respectively.

‘BRICS QS University Rankings provides a list of institutions that qualify for the top 250 universities amongst the five BRICS countries that are Brazil, China, India, Russia and South Africa.
