Google, which has not been hiring IIT graduates for the past two years, is planning to recruit students from IITs during the final placement process. Apart from Google, McKinsey is expected to join IIT final placements after a three-year gap. In the last two years, Google conducted off-campus recruitment drives and offered jobs to selected students. Google wants to make a good number of offers to IIT graduates, and it has started to visit top IITs in India.
IIT Madras Training and Placement Advisor, Mr. Manu Santhanam revealed that Google and McKinsey are going to take part in the final placement process this year. Google has already hired some students through PPO this year. The premier institute is expecting to make best and lucrative offers to its students from McKinsey and Google.
In October 2018, All IIT Placement Committee decided to discourage off-campus recruitments. IITs do not have the policy of encouraging students to take part in off-campus recruitment drives. IIT students get good offers on the campus itself. The members of the committee hailed the move.
Google is visiting IIT (Indian Institute of Technology) Roorkee to recruit students for domestic roles. Similarly, Google will visit IIT BHU, IIT Guwahati, and IIT Delhi. The recruitment process has been streamlined, and students need to take multiple tests to take part in the recruitment drive.
On the other hand, McKinsey is in talks with IIT Delhi in order to take part in final placements. The popular consultancy firm will not be visiting IIT Roorkee, IIT Kharagpur, and IIT Kanpur this year.
