Management Development Programmes (MDPs) come in as a solution. One such Management Development Programme is offered by the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Sambalpur. The MDP course being offered by IIM Sambalpur offers guidance to educational institutes, socially conscious organizations and businesses. The course helps these entities survive the transformations of the industry.
In the year 2020, IIM-S has conducted two such Management Development Programmes.
The first was a 3-day MDP for 'Achieving Leadership Excellence'. The sessions were taken by some of the brightest managerial educators in India, including Prof. V Anand Ram (Retd.), from IIM Bangalore, and Prof. Arti Sengupta and Prof. M.P. Jaiswal from IIM Sambalpur. Held at Jharsuguda, the Executive Development Programme was meant for the Senior Management Teams of Vedanta Aluminium Ltd and included sessions on topics such as Leadership and Management, Leading and Managing Change, Managing Interpersonal Dynamics, Transactional and Transformational Leadership etc.

The second such course offered by IIM Sambalpur was an MDP on Enhancing Academic Leadership Skills was offered in collaboration with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The course was targetted at the Principals and the Vice Principals of CBSE schools in Orissa. The participants in this programme gained insights into the development of education based on competency and value. The programme also taught the use of different management tools and practices relevant to institutions.
